On the order of district collector Umar Deen Khan (image), Section 144 has been imposed in the Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan for the upcoming Deepawali celebrations.

The prohibitory order has been placed because the DC said as people burst firecrackers on Deepawali, it leads to many accidents and there are concerns of loss of life or property.

The Jhunjhunu Police has also banned bursting crackers within 500 meters of entities dealing with petroleum products and within 100 metres of hospitals and religious spaces.

Only green firecrackers are allowed to be used and that too between 8pm-10pm only.

This order would be in place between November 1 and 6.

In an earlier order, the Jhunjhunu Police had also prohibited people from playing any religious songs or raising any slogans that can hurt the religious sentiments. The police later removed this restriction.

BJP district president Pawan Mawandia has said it’s a Tughlaki order.
