Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while interacting with field officials from states and districts regarding the covid-19 virus, said that continuous efforts are being made to ramp up vaccine supply.
PM Modi said that the government is working continuously to ensure a 15-day advance delivery of vaccination stocks to states.
“Continuous efforts are being made to ramp up covid vaccine supply in a big way,” he said.
Stressing on the fact that vaccination is a strong way to fight covid, PM said myths about it have to be collectively rooted out.
Modi was interacting with the district magistrates from 46 districts across nine states, through video-conferencing. He described the district officials as “field commanders” in the fight against covid and hailed them for giving foremost priority to their duty despite being covid positive or losing their family members.
“You all are playing a very important role in the battle against Corona. In a way, you are the field commanders of this battle,” he further said.
He further asserted that a lot of attention has to be paid to rural and remote areas during the second wave of the pandemic.
“There are different challenges in every district of our country. You understand the challenges of your district best. When your district wins, it is the country’s victory. If your district defeats covid-19, so does the country,” he added.
While highlighting the fact that Covid cases are decreasing in the country, PM Modi warned against letting the guard down. “Currently, there is a dip in the number of Covid-19 cases in some states while an increase in others. As the cases are decreasing, we need to be more alert. I have been requesting in the meetings which were held in the last one year that our fight is to save every single life,” he said.
He also asked the officials to share their experiences, success stories, and suggestions. “It is important to share your experiences so that successful models can be emulated. We need to take care of all sections of the society during the pandemic and hence must devise strategies accordingly,” the Prime Minister said.
Later on, the PMO stated, “The battle against Covid-19 across various states and districts is being led at the cutting edge by field-level officials. Many of them have shown great initiative and come out with imaginative solutions. A better appreciation of such initiatives will help towards developing an effective response plan, targeted strategy implementation, and support necessary policy interventions.”
