So far Rs 8071 crores out of the budget outlay of Rs 35,000 crores have been spent on purchasing Covid-19 vaccines, it was disclosed by Union MoS health, Bharati Pawar in Lok Sabha today.
In all, the Centre ordered 100.6 crores doses of Covaxin and Covishield out of which 42.52 crore doses have been supplied. The last order of 66 crore vaccines (37.5 crore doses of Covishield, 28.5 crore doses of Covaxin) was placed on July 17.
Importantly, it is expected that all beneficiaries 18 and above in years would be vaccinated by December 2021, the minister revealed.
