Republic Media Network is to initiate the proceedings to sue the Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh for Rs 200 crore damages in charging them for manipulating the TRP ratings, as per a report.
Rs 100 crores is for damage to the reputation of its owner-anchor Arnab Goswami and Rs 100 crore is for the damage it has caused to the Republic media network.
It followed after the Maharashtra government lawyer in the Bombay High Court today admitted that Republic is not named in the FIR in the TRP case, contradicting their own police commissioner and the Mumbai Police.
There is a contempt petition too that the Republic network would file against the special executive magistrate and assistant police commissioner, Sudhir Jambwadekar for inititiating chapter proceedings with respect to FIRs that have been suspended by the orders of the Bombay High Court.
It must be recalled that Param Bir Singh had named Republic Media network for TRP scam in a news conference on October 8. Incidentally, the Supreme Court had raised concerns over the patter of police commissioners giving media interviews.
