Harsmirat Kaur Badal’s resignation from the Union council of ministers has been accepted by the President Ram Nath Kovind, as advised by prime minister Narendra Modi, with immediate effect.
Further, on the advice of the prime minister, President Kovind has directed the cabinet minister Narendra Singh Tomar to take over the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, in addition to his existing portfolios, in the absence of Harsimrat Badal.
Meanwhile, hailing the passage of three farm sector bills in Lok Sabha, Modi described these proposed legislations as historic. He asserted they would rid farmers and the farm sector of middlemen and other hurdles. He said: Many forces are trying to mislead farmers,” claiming it would allow farmers to sell their produce on the price they want.
