India hit out at Pakistan on Monday for its criticism of the country in the wake of alleged derogatory remarks made against Prophet Muhammad by two BJP leaders, asking it to “focus on safety, security and well-being of its minority communities instead of engaging in alarmist propaganda.
In response to a recent tweet by Pakistan’s prime minister Shehbaz Sharif and a statement by its foreign ministry, the Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Arindam Bagchi underlined that the government of India “accords the highest respect to all religions.”
“We have noted statements and comments from Pakistan. The absurdity of a serial violator of minority rights commenting on the treatment of minorities in another nation is not lost on anyone,” Bagchi said in a statement.
