Donald Trump’s social media app is No. 1 within 24 hours

Former US president Donald Trump launched his social media app Truth Social on Monday. Within 24 hours, it has grabbed the No. 1 position on the top charts.

Trump was banned by several platforms last year following the US Capitol Hall violence in January 2021.

Donald Trump Jr had announced on February 15 that the “Favourite President” was making a comeback on social media.

Trump was banned after the US Capitol Hall violence by Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc. He was accused of posting messages that incited violence.

Thereafter, in March last year, he had hinted at launching his own social media platform.

Truth Social has been developed by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) led by Devis Nunes, former Republican US representative. The platform is attracting users who feel their views and ideology are being suppressed by social media giants.
