Delhi impose night curfew on weekends: Covid-19

Amid the sudden increase in Covid and Omicron cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), which met virtually to review the Covid-19 situation, has imposed a weekend curfew from Friday 10 pm to Monday 5 am in the national capital.

“Weekend curfew will be imposed in Delhi following a spike in Covid-19 cases. Government officials barring essential services will work from home in Delhi.”

The night curfew has already been imposed in Delhi from 10 PM till 5 AM in the morning.

According to a report, all employees of government offices will shift to “work from home” mode — except for those associated with the essential services category.

Currently, Delhi is under the `yellow` alert as per the Graded Action Response Plan (GRAP) of the DDMA, that segregates the areas in four levels of colour-coded alerts, namely, yellow, amber, orange and red and decides as to which activities would be allowed.

Delhi Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia will address the media shortly to further brief about other restrictions.

Delhi has reported a rising positivity rate or the number of people testing positive for every 100 tests. On Monday, 4,099 new cases and one death were reported in 24 hours.

The positivity rate in Delhi is at 6.46 per cent, the highest since May.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also tested positive for Covid-19 and has mild symptoms.
