AIIMS Delhi begins clinical Covaxin trials on children in 12-18 age group





AIIMS Delhi has begun screening for clinical trials of Covaxin, Covid-19 vaccine, on children from today, as per ANI. 

The trial is planned on 525 subjects at various sites, including AIIMS of Delhi and Patna, as well as of Meditrina Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur. 

The two doses would be administered at an interval fo 28 days. 

Covaxin will be the first such vaccine in India that would cater to inoculating children. 

AIIMS Patna has already begun trials in the 12-18 age group. After them, it would be trials on 6-12 years and then 2-6 years. 

On May 13, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had given nod to phase-2/3 trials on children ageing 2-18-year-olds.
