It’s so pathetic to read leading voices of Indian mainstream or social media on the Middle East. They are rabid cheerleaders of Israel; hate Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran without a care to international law and are utterly illiterates to history.
They get stuck on October 7, 2023 on a decidedly heinous Hamas attack on Israel that justifies to them the ongoing genocide of half a million Palestinians. They don’t reflect if one October 7 justifies the aftermath then what about hundreds of October 7 which Israel has carried out on a hapless population since it was hoisted on their land by Western powers in 1948—and whether the Zionist state had it coming all along.
Or that Israel’s policy since 1948 has been the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and unlawful seizing of lands, be it in West Bank, Gaza, East Jerusalem or Golan Heights based on some 7th BCE scriptures of a Promised Land; and yet boorishly claiming to be surrounded by hostile forces when the Arab League and all other Arab forums all along have been saying “Two States, living side by side, and living in peace.”
This is what Iran’s new president Masoud Pezeshkian said in the UN the other day, that they want peace which was followed by Benjamin Netanyahu’s uncouth abusive rant and unfurling of a Greater Israel map without a sign of Palestine on it. Most of the world in the UN asks for a two-state solution which Israel rubbishes and US vetoes; there is no adherence to International Court of Justice (ICJ) which has passed strictures against the genocidal Israel in Gaza. Why, a boorish Tel Aviv even declares UN chief as “persona non grata.”
These critics today are making fun of Iran’s missiles and are rubbing their hands in glee at the fate which awaits Tehran now, without pausing and wondering if violating the territorial integrity of a State (killing of Ismail Haniyeh) deserved a response or not. They are whooping up and down on pager and walkie-talkie explosions which also killed innocent civilians, not to say the massive TNT which were used on residential buildings in Lebanon taking out hundreds of innocent lives.
This is not war crime to them; nor in their hatred are they able to see that Israel is scuttling the peace proposals at every step, the prisoners’ exchange could have happened a long-time ago if Israel had promised they won’t renege on ceasefire in its aftermath. They won’t wonder why Netanyahu choose to mouth war instead of saying, “Ok Mr (Iranian) President, let’s see what peace we could achieve.”
These cheerleaders swoon over Israel’s military and intelligence capability, their assassinations which are pure terrorism, but don’t realize Israel is over the next minute the United States pulls out of its unconditional support with funds, arms and surveillance capability.
These loyalists hail Israel as the only democracy in the Middle East when it’s nothing but an apartheid, racist regime where everyone else except the Jews are second citizens. The Arabs they hate are actually the enablers of Israel —monarchical nations such as Saudi Arabia and Jordan—along with Sisi of Egypt who have enabled Tel Aviv to work around the trade blockade which Houthis are implementing in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. These monarchical Arab nations are hated by their people and owe their survival to the United States and hence the beeline to Israel.
These dimwits are cheering on Israel to go after Iran and its oil refineries, unmindful that a retaliatory Tehran could set ablaze the oilfields in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE etc; not the say enforce a blockade of Strait of Hormuz in their backyard — world’s most important oil trade chokepoint.

All Israel has done since the last one year is to escalate, escalate and escalate and bring the Middle East to the brink. They have carried out attacks on civilians, killed tens of thousands, effected assassinations, shown disdain to international law and the UN Charter in the wild hope that sooner or later the United States would physically join them in their quest for regional dominance and Greater Israel.
This murderous regime and its Neocon backers in Washington are brazen because they know their citizens don’t care how many die because of their bombs everyday around the world. If the US does give in to Israel’s war-games, and sends across its own innocent soldiers to die in a faraway land, against a nation (Iran) which has done little to provoke them; with which it has no security issue, it would be sheer madness. They are escalating a war which they simply can’t win. Israel has sought a regional domination for decades but it hasn’t materialized. It won’t happen either in coming decades that is if Israel survives for that long.
These cheerleaders in Indian media who call Hamas and Hezbollahs as terrorists are unaware they in reality rose out of Israel’s repression in Gaza and Lebanon. Hamas was an elected government in Gaza which was originally created by Israel itself to weaken Palestinian Authority (PA) and likewise Hezbollah was a charitable body which rose in defence of defenceless people and now sits in Parliament in Beirut.
And if Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorists who is propping up Nazis in Ukraine and who hoisted Al Qaeda affiliates as modern Syrian rebels not long ago? What are they if not terrorists?
These knuckleheads are avid believers of Israel’s claims that Hamas and Hezbollah operate using human shields without inspecting it’s Israeli army which uses innocent Palestinians as human shields, camouflaging them in their own uniforms, and hurling them to death.
These oafs won’t wonder that method of starvation would kill only innocent civilians and those most unlikely to be affected by it would be Hamas. And if this starvation, as the bombing of schools, hospitals etc, is actually intended to make Gaza inhospitable and drive a million plus as ethnically cleansed.
