Iqbal Hossain, the man who put Quran in Durga Pandal in B’desh, identified

The Bangladesh Police have identified the man responsible for inciting the violence, which led to attacks on Durga puja pandals in Comilla and other places. However he is yet to be arrested. 

Comilla’s Superintendent of Police Farooq Ahmed, informed that the man’s name is Iqbal Hossain from the Sujanagar area of the city.

In the CCTV footage, Iqbal is taken the Quran from a mosque and heading to the Puja venue. He was later seen walking away with the Hindu God Hanuman’s club in his hand.

“A man named Iqbal Hossain has been identified as the main suspect — placing the Holy Quran at the puja mandap on the bank of Nanuar Dighi in Cumilla city,” Ahmed said.

The police said over 450 suspected temple attackers have been arrested so far in different parts of the country. 41 of them have been arrested for the Comilla incident and four of them are Hossain’s associates.
