Local temple vandalized, Shivling uprooted in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh





A local temple has been vandalised in the Muslim majority Alampur village of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The Shivling of the temple was found uprooted and desecrated outside the temple. 

According to the local community, the 40-50 years old temple was attacked on Saturday. The lock was broken and the idol inside the temple was vandalized. It created a situation of anger and chaos, however, with the arrival of the police, the situation was brought under control. 

SO Amardeep Lal of Mirzapur police station further assured that the efforts are already being made to resurrect the idol. 

Earlier also there were several attacks on Hindu temples across the country. According to a report, In 2020, about 228 cases of attacks on temples were registered alone in Andhra Pradesh. 

In 2019, Two old Hindu temples in Suryaraopeta, Kakinada rural Mandal of East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh were demolished by Church authorities using a JCB machine and then took away antique idols of the presiding Goddess.
