Elon Musk announces $100m for carbon emission innovation

Elon Musk has announced a $100 million prize for development of technology to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions which can help keep climate changes in check. So far, efforts have been made to cut down the emissions to check adverse effects on the climate which is changing. The new technology should be aimed at capturing the carbon in the air.

Incidentally, very little progress has been made on technology/technologies that focussed on taking out the carbon. Carbon capture technology was badly needed to help different nations meet zero emission targets, according to the International Energy Agency.

Taking to Twitter, Musk wrote: “Am donating $100 million towards a prize for carbon capture technology.” In the second Tweet, he said: “Details next week.”

US President Joe Biden has said he plans to accelerate development of carbon capture technology. On Thursday, he named Jennifer Wilcox, an expert, in his team for fossil energy at the US Department of Energy.
